Órzola: Fishing Village, Ferries to La Graciosa and Northern Lanzarote

Órzola has a very clear place within the island: it is the last village in the north, facing the strait that separates Lanzarote from La Graciosa. That edge-of-the-island position gives it character. There is a harbour, low houses, a maritime atmosphere and a sense of landscape that feels more open, less urban and more exposed to the Atlantic than other tourist areas of Lanzarote.

Its best-known role is the sea link with La Graciosa. For many travellers, Órzola is the departure point for Caleta de Sebo, but reducing it to a transit port misses the point. Before or after the ferry, it is worth walking around, watching the activity at the quay and eating something by the sea.

Órzola’s identity is closely tied to fish and seafood. Around the village there are also natural pools, small bathing spots and pale sandy areas that contrast with the dark lava of the north. They are places to enjoy with care: wind, tide and sea conditions can change the experience significantly.

Órzola fits very well into a northern Lanzarote route alongside Jameos del Agua and Mirador del Río. The combination lets you move from Manrique’s volcanic architecture to a real fishing village and end with one of the great views over the Chinijo Archipelago.
