Barranco del Infierno (Tenerife): the Adeje ravine walk with advance booking

Barranco del Infierno is one of the best-known protected trails in southern Tenerife. The path follows a narrow ravine, moving between rock faces, ravine vegetation and shifting light that feels very different from the dry coast around Adeje. The waterfall is the endpoint, but the real appeal is the journey itself and the feeling of stepping into an enclosed landscape. Access is regulated to reduce pressure on a sensitive environment and to manage safety.

The access point is in Adeje, in southern Tenerife, reached by road to the town or the designated area at the start of the trail. This is not a route to attempt without planning: entry is regulated, with advance booking and a daily capacity limit. Before travelling, check the official website for availability, entry conditions and current rules. Once there, the route is completed on foot along the authorised path, without leaving the marked trail.

Wear mountain or walking shoes, carry enough water and choose comfortable clothing for natural terrain. This is not suitable for turning up without a reservation: access control is part of how the area is managed, not a formality. Follow staff instructions, including helmet use whenever the rules or specific sections require it. Do not leave yourself short of time and stay on the trail, as the ravine combines environmental value with the risks typical of a narrow watercourse.
