Playa de Las Vistas: a family beach guide in Arona

Playa de Las Vistas is one of the most practical urban beaches in southern Tenerife. It is in Arona, beside Los Cristianos, and links by seafront promenade with El Camisón, Los Cristianos and the edge of Las Américas. Its appeal is not wilderness, but ease: golden sand, space, breakwaters that soften the swell, adapted access, nearby restaurants and activity through most of the year. Turismo de Tenerife describes it as an urban beach with pale sand and a full set of services right by the shore. It is ideal if you are travelling with children, want a swim without having to study the coast too closely, or need a well-placed beach for combining swimming, lunch, a walk and shopping without moving the car. It also works as a reliable base for anyone staying in the south who wants a broad, predictable beach with everything close by. Its strength is all-day convenience.

Access to Las Vistas is straightforward from Los Cristianos, from the seafront avenue or from Arona’s inner streets. By car, the usual approach is via Los Cristianos or Las Américas, then looking for parking in nearby streets, public car parks or commercial areas. Turismo de Tenerife lists parking with more than 100 spaces and a connection with interurban buses. Even so, it fills up at busy times because the beach draws both visitors and residents. If you are staying in Los Cristianos or Las Américas, walking along the promenade is usually the easiest option. You avoid traffic, park once if needed, and can move between several beaches without changing area. Los Cristianos station is a useful reference point.

Swimming is one of its main strengths. The breakwaters help keep the water generally calm, and the beach is designed around family use. There are toilets, showers, foot showers, bins, cleaning, a tourist office, bars, restaurants and sunbed and parasol hire, as well as adapted access. Water activities are also common in the surrounding area. Still, do not switch off: always check the flag, keep children under close watch at the waterline and avoid swimming near boats or activity areas when they are operating. If you want easy snorkelling, the rocky ends are usually more interesting than the middle of the sand beach. In the centre, the experience is more classic bathing, with an easy entry and sand underfoot.

If you want space, arrive early or go down late in the afternoon. Las Vistas works very well as a half-day beach: swim, walk towards Los Cristianos, eat, then return along the avenue. For families, the central area is convenient because of the sand and services; for walking, the ends give better onward access towards El Camisón or the harbour. Bring a cap and water, because the size of the beach can be deceptive and natural shade is limited. If you want absolute quiet, this is not the beach for you; if you want comfort and almost no logistics, it is. On windy days, set up near the breakwaters or look for a sunbed.
